The streets of our neighbourhood in Mexico City are where I find the materials I have been working with since we moved here a year ago.  This palm frond came in off the street, had a bath and a good long soak and then the rest of its "spa" treatment.  In addition to braiding and shaping, part was painted with several shades of homemade egg tempera paints.  Then bits of broken car window glass (also from the street and in normal and dark tinted shades!) adorned the neck of "Phoenix".  Other pieces drip from the wings and dangle as it rotates.
I like the shadow play here ... Phoenix finds its mate and they dance together in slow circles.
